Andrew Alexander is a legendary theater and television producer known for his outstanding leadership and co-ownership at The Second City. He was in charge of Second City for decades with his life-long friend Len Stuart and has worked to make it a tremendous success.
Andrew Alexander stumble upon the career path in The Second City while working a publicity and a marketing job at the Toronto Arts Foundation. While working here, he met Bernie Sahlins, the co-founder, and owner of The Second City.
After a while, the Second City in the Toronto Location was failing. Andrew Alexander made a deal to assume its debts in exchange for the operating rights for the Second City in Canada.
In 1974, he took over the reins of the Second City Toronto, and he run it for a while. Before creating his venture, The Second City Company. He worked to showcase the talents of several comedians such as John Candy and Dave Thomas and help launch their careers.
He has also produced and developed more than 185 half-hour shows and television programming for several stations such as ABC, CBS, NBC, and HBO, but to mention a few.
Andrew Alexander has also worked on several groundbreaking projects such as Marin Short, Goes Home, and the Next Comedy Legend.
He has also won several awards for his great work, such as the Artistic Leadership Award in 2009 from the League of Chicago Theaters and the Chairman’s Award from the Canadian Comedy Awards.
He has also received the lifetime award on behalf of Second City enterprise. And has been honored to have more than 154 nominations for the Jeff Awards and has won 32 of the 154 nominations.
