Bhanu Choudhrie, a British-Indian Investor Has Been a Business Icon in Asia and UK

Bhanu Choudhrie has built his career as a strategic investor, philanthropist, and founder of C&C Alpha Group. Also, he oversees investments in real estate, healthcare, aviation, banking, utilities, and hospitality. Bhanu was born in 1978 in New Delhi as the eldest son of an eminent Indian businessman and political donor. Bhanu is an advocate of low-cost air travel and charter aviation for both private and corporate clients. In 2007 he spearheaded a challenge to convince London City Airport to operate more cargo flights, hoping to accommodate the growing demand for low-cost freight transport in the London region.

Bhanu Choudhrie also has active roles at Alpha Aviation Group. He is dynamically involved in various advocacy groups. He strongly believes in educating the public and community stakeholders on the private aviation sector. In this regard, Bhanu regularly participates in various education, public speaking, and research programs on the industry. He serves as a non-executive director of Spanish low-cost carrier Vueling, UK-based charter company Skyline, and industrial real estate developer Watermark Park.

Bhanu Choudhrie is the principal executive advisor and co-owner of InterGlobe Aviation (formerly known as Vistara) which owns and operates an Indian commercial airline, SpiceJet, and a full-service coordinator, TruJet. Bhanu became CEO of Alpha Aviation in 2008. In 2014, he created a $200 million financial stake in Delta Air Lines (NYSE: DAL) and advocated Delta for recognition as a brand of excellence. In May 2015, Bhanu became the vice-chairman of Delta’s operating committee. His leadership contributed to the $250 million Delta invested in fueling the economy in the 2016 Delta Campaign.

Bhanu Choudhrie has held several positions at Merrill Lynch. He was formerly the managing director of Merrill Lynch India & Sub-Saharan Africa and was the head of investment banking in India. He also helped establish Alpha Aviation Group in Mumbai. He also worked at the United Kingdom-based JP Morgan Chase & Co.’s investment banking division and Lehman Brothers & Co. Bhanu received a BA in international marketing and business from Boston University and graduated from Harvard Business School’s Owners President Management Program.
